Duties and Responsibilities:
occupational
therapist assist patients who are mentally, emotionally, and physically
disabled . They help them get used to handi-caps and performing regular
everyday things. They work with physicians, physical therapist, and counselors.
Occupational therapist assistants keep up with the patients and report back to
the occupational therapist their progress. Most occupational therapist work for
hospitals some for nursing homes and others for handicapped schools. They can also be hired in rehabilitation
centers or adults day care center.
$12,000 - $15,000 (Occupational Therapy Aides)
$17,000 - $26,000 (Occupational Therapy Assistants)
Education:
Occupational therapist aides are required to have a high
school diploma or GED training will be given to them on the job. Occupational
therapist assistants must take a two year training program that includes
clinical experience. They must also pass a national examination to qualify.
I would be interested in this career, helping people back on their feet seems like a great thing to do.
